Position Details:

Stella-Jones is seeking a Production Supervisor to join our utility pole manufacturing plant in Baconton, Georgia. This Supervisor will be responsible ensuring efficient operations, meeting production targets, maintaining safety standards, and fostering employee development. This position is opening due to an internal promotion.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management:

* Implement the manufacturing operations and plant business plan, encompassing safety, environmental compliance, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and capital improvements.

* Ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.

* Coordinate manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to optimize production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

* Interface with others in the organization to ensure production deadlines are met.

* Perform administrative activities related to the effective management of operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.

Production Planning and Execution:

* Analyze work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs.

* Assign operating equipment and personnel to accomplish efficient material flow on a timely and cost-effective basis.

* Obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.

* Interpret product specifications and job orders to workers, and assign duties accordingly.

* Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.

Quality and Continuous Improvement:

* Coordinate quality control inspections for compliance with standard specifications.

* Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

* Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the plant.

* Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.

Employee Development and Safety:

* Provide guidance in the development of a manufacturing plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.

* Assist with training and ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.

* Develop employees to maximize their potential.

* Participate and contribute to the company safety program.

* Maintain time and production records.

* Work with the regional plant leadership to establish and review the budget on an ongoing basis.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

* Five or more years of work experience in a manufacturing environment required; Ten or more years of experience preferred

* Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred

* Wood products industry experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required):

* Computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Note: SAP or other ERP system experience preferred)

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
