Fiddlers Green Manor -

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs secretarial duties for all departments. Will be required to work holidays and weekends on rotating basis.


ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS


A. Job Knowledge and Role Responsibilities:


1. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific factors to adult and geriatric residents.


2. Attends all mandatory inservices by employees anniversary date.


3. Acts appropriately under the direction of the Administrator.


4. Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in shift assignments to meet facility


needs.


5. Successfully completes facility conducted orientation and mandatory training


within the Introductory Period.


6. Handles all telephone, intercom and paging system operations.


7. Processes typing and computer work for all departments, requiring general


knowledge of all departmental operations.


8. Handles all mail for residents and deliver it to their units. Sort facility mail, put in


proper mail boxes.


9. Maintains rolodex, resident list and resident mail instructions.


10. Greets and assists visitors with signing the visitor book.


11. Completes the missing items report


12. Attend appropriate inservices.


13. Ensure the safety of residents in the reception area.


14. Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program when performing work functions.



B. Role Responsibilities Interpersonal Skills:


1. Is aware of, and adheres to, Residents Bill of Rights and Confidentiality of


Resident Information.


2. Interacts with residents, family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff


in a non-judgmental, supportive and calm manner.


3. Addresses family satisfaction issues immediately and assists in resolving the


matter in a professional manner.


4. Is aware of Resident Abuse Reporting Law.


5. Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a


positive, helpful and enthusiastic attitude.



C. Role Responsibilities Safety:


1. Demonstrates ability to locate emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguisher,


emergency oxygen tank, etc.).


2. Understands and can demonstrate knowledge of role in Fire and Disaster drills.


3. Demonstrates ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential behavioral


outbursts.


4. Uses facility equipment safely.


5. Recognizes, removes and/or reports potential hazards.


6. Follows established safety rules/accident prevention.


7. Keep updated on the fire/disaster policies and react appropriately to fire/disaster


drills per policy manuals.



D. Resident Care Responsibilities Infection Control:


1. Demonstrates proper handwashing techniques, as appropriate.


2. Disposes of waste properly.




E. Resident Care Responsibilities Resident Dignity:


1. Addresses residents in a respectful manner.


2. Discusses confidential resident information in appropriate areas only.



F. Other duties as assigned by the Administrative Assistant.



SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS


1. Able to perform each of the essential position functions.


2. High School Graduate with typing skills and some computer knowledge. Experience


appropriate to the requirements of this position.


3. Must be at least 18 years of age.


4. Responsible, mature person, pleasant, tactful, patient, well-groomed, and conducts


oneself in a professional manner at all times.


5. Must have knowledge of the use of office machines and equipment.


6. Must treat resident and institutional information as confidential material.


7. Must be flexible and willing to work holidays, weekends and all shifts.


8. Must meet health assessment requirements, including two stage mantoux skin test.


9. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without


reasonable accommodations.


10. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess


sufficient communication to perform the tasks required.
