Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Central Transport Manager, the Transporter will provide safe and efficient transport of patients to nursing units, ancillary departments, patient rooms, diagnostic areas, and other areas of the hospital.

Hours: Part time- Per diem. Day and Evening shift. Weekdays, weekends and holidays.

  1. Safe and efficient transport of patients to all areas of the hospital.
  2. Transport charts and specimens in an efficient and confidential manner.
  3. Rounding of Oxygen tanks on a daily basis and posses' ability to inspect gauges to determine when an oxygen tank and/or regulator needs servicing.
  4. Use of proper log-in log-out procedures using the Tele Tracking automated system.
  5. Proper use of IVR/ Iphones for all trips.
  6. Respond to transport trip request within 10 minutes from the time the trip alert is relayed to the beeper with proper equipment and linens.
  7. Verify patient identity by checking Patients Name, D.O.B and Medical Record Number on wristband verifying it to the patient's chart. Following the second step procedure by asking patient their name and D.O.B. Assuring that no patient is taken from the unit without a patient wrist band.
  8. Retrieve ticket to ride and get signature from patient's RN and properly communicating patient information with testing department.
  9. Maintain and clean all transportation equipment based on established infection control guidelines.
  10. Adhere to all isolation procedures using gowns, mask, gloves, where appropriate.
  11. Aid in informing customers, nursing units, and ancillary departments of delay
  12. Identify self when addressing patients, families, visitors, and co workers
  13. Use proper lifting techniques when moving a patient


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required.
  • Basic English reading, writing and verbal skills required.
  • Prior healthcare experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Ability to lift, pull and push for extended periods of time.
