Nurse - Part Time


Job Details

Wilmington College is seeking applicants for the position of Part Time Nurse in our Student Health Services on the main campus in Wilmington College. This is a part time, 10 month position working approximately 15-20 hours per week.

This position is responsible for the physical and mental health of the campus community, with primary attention given to students. Responsibilities include:

* Evaluate and treat or refer all students seeking health care or advice.

* Work with college physician during the one-hour clinic period. Also schedule appointments at the doctor's office and schedule/assist with sports physicals.

* Perform simple laboratory procedures. Coordinate with hospital lab on all other procedures and/or radiology needs. Includes assisting training room with securing x-rays for injured athletes. Delivers lab specimens as needed.

* Maintain all student health records, including gathering medical histories and immunizations. Prepare and maintain statistical reports.

* Present information to parents at registration and assist with all orientation programs for students and parents.

* Assist with wellness programming throughout the year (may include presentations). Act as a resource for all health-related programming.

* Assist the Dean of Students and the residence life department in the evaluation and validation of medical requests for housing, housing exemption, special equipment and/or meal exemption.

* Attend meetings of Student Life staff and other meetings as required.

* Transportation to appointments with doctors and/or counselor as needed.

* Perform other related duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Nursing, plus at least two years of nursing experience.

* Evidence of healthcare experience in a broad range of related activities.

* Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.

* Willingness to become an integral part of the college community and the community at large.

* Ability to plan and implement projects with a college-wide impact. Demonstrated organizational ability.

* Knowledge of emerging and conceptual/theoretical ideas related to the profession.

* Background in budget development and ability to effectively control budgetary expenditures.

* Experience working with a student population, particularly in higher education, highly desirable.
