The MRO Database Administrator Advisor oversees our database level management systems leveraged across our organization. MRO is shaping the future of Clinical Data within the healthcare ecosystem. We are looking for Database Administrators enthusiastic about solving problems across the organization as we continue to drive innovation within the healthcare ecosystem. We are looking for Database Administrators to be versatile, display a passion for leadership and challenge the status quo.

As a Database Administrator Advisor you will deliver solutions that align to global initiatives as a member of a highly autonomous Scrum Team. Your contributions will include the design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and repairing of Enterprise level database management systems. The Database Administrator Advisor will ensure performance, availability and security meets the needs of the organization. Working across the organization, you will help influence the solutions to the most complex problems while driving skilling up to your partnering Scrum Team members.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful candidate will ensure the success of enterprise-level application rollouts through development of database solutions and corresponding architectures that reflect an understanding of the industry, business goals, business systems and information technology.
  • Our DBA will analyze business goals and user requirements to develop database specifications, designs system architecture and supervise the technical development and implementation of a new database environment or modifications.
  • Perform database enhancement and modification as per the requirements.
  • Perform the planning, research, design, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting activities for database system
  • Lead highly complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts
  • Evaluate and recommend database technologies and products.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related software(s) including replication, backup, storage, access and partitioning of databases.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Databases, Managed instances, VMs, Azure automation, PowerBI, logging etc.
  • Handle routine maintenance, including backups, recovery, and job automation
  • Implement and maintain database security (encryption, access controls, etc.).
  • Ensure databases comply with industry standards and legal requirements.
  • Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other data-related problems.Prepare and maintain technical documentation to guide the development, operations, and maintenance of databases.
  • Write and troubleshoot complex stored procedures.
  • Assist with enterprise reporting needs, both through performing ad hoc queries, as well as developing better reporting tools and procedures
  • Oversee data migration, refactoring, and redesign projects, to keep database nimble and avoid spaghetti database structures.
  • Work across multiple colleagues on architectural decisions and implementation
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS|EXPERIENCE:

Experience & Key Competencies
  • Microsoft Certification / Azure Certification
  • Expert in database design architecture and principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven decision-making, Communication skills, and planning and organizing skills.
  • Experience with database automation and scripting (PowerShell).
  • Proficiency in Postgres, Cassandra, CosmosDB is a plus.
  • Cloud Experience with Azure and GCP.
  • Knowledge of Open-source tools such as Brent Ozar, Ola Hallengren's etc.
  • Knowledge of Perfmon and other optimization tools. SQL Sentry is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team and mentor junior staff.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process, a plus
  • Firm Understanding of Data Protection and High Availability technologies
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
  • MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) certification or MCITP Database Certification
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Depth and Breadth of Experience with MS SQL Server
  • Intimacy with SQL Server coding and management
  • Deep Experience with database design and tuning
