PRN (as needed)Floor Technician
Located on James Island, SC, Bishop Gadsden is a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community affiliated with the Episcopal Church, just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston. We are seeking a dedicated Floor Technician to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of our flooring and carpeting, remove trash and soiled linens, and set up functions according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) on a "as needed basis".
The primary responsibility of the Floor Technician is tomaintain the cleanliness and appearance of all flooring and carpeting; as well as, removing trash and soiled linens throughout the Bishop Gadsden community. This individual will also set-up functions according to the BEO(Banquet Event Order) within the assigned area of responsibility.
A Typical Day:
- Vacuum carpeted hallways and common areas daily.
- Spot clean and shampoo carpets.
- Move furniture in parlors and clean flooring areas underneath as needed.
- Empty trash from utility rooms and activity rooms and transporting via a golf cart and trailer to appropriate areas. Ensure trash rooms are clean and organized.
- Remove soiled linens in trash rooms and put them in back dock.
- Sweep and mop all floors as needed. Strip, wax, and buff applicable floors as needed.
- Sweep mats and entrance ways to buildings, removing any trash or debris.
- Set-up functions/events and break down after functions.
- Scrub floors and bathrooms in common areas and resident apartments.
- Clean outside areas of buildings as instructed by supervisor.
- Pressure wash certain areas of the buildings when needed.
- Follow safety policies and procedures and maintain safe work habits at all times.
- Communicate with members of team and supervisor in a pleasant and efficient manner.
What We Need From a Candidate:
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Previous floor technician experience preferred.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, squat, climb, reach above head, carry, and lift (up to 50 lbs.).
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
