ISS is looking for experienced and motivated individuals to fill Health & Safety positions within our GOM Safety and Environment Department. This rotational position is located offshore in the working with Team Leaders providing a key role in all HSE matters.
HSE Specialist Confined Space and Fall Protection
Location: Offshore Gulf of Mexico
Position Summary:
The HSE Specialist for Confined Space and Fall Protection will be responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all personnel involved in confined space and fall protection operations in the offshore Gulf of Mexico environment. This role includes implementing, and maintaining safety protocols, conducting training sessions, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Management:
Develop and implement safety procedures for confined space and fall protection operations.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of work sites to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Investigate incidents and near misses related to confined space and fall protection work and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Training and Development:
Conduct safety meetings for personnel involved in confined space and fall protection activities.
Ensure all workers are properly trained and certified in accordance with relevant standards.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay current with OSHA, ANSI, and other regulatory requirements related to confined space entry and fall protection.
Ensure all work practices comply with regulatory standards and company policies.
Prepare and submit required safety reports.
Emergency Preparedness:
Implement emergency response plans for confined space and fall protection incidents.
Conduct emergency drills to ensure preparedness of all personnel.
Act as the primary point of contact during emergencies, coordinating response efforts.
Equipment and Maintenance:
Assure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment related to confined space entry and fall protection, including harnesses, lanyards, and breathing apparatus.
Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and in good working condition.
Communication and Coordination:
Liaise with project managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure safety protocols are integrated into project planning and execution.
Provide regular updates to the HSE Manager on safety performance and any issues that arise.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE roles, with a focus on confined space and fall protection in the offshore environment.
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to conduct thorough investigations and develop effective corrective actions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment:
The position requires working in an offshore environment, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions and challenging physical environments.
The role may require extended periods away from home, with shifts typically lasting several weeks.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
