JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill a full-time position as an Enterprise Applications Software Developer in the Information Technology Services organization. This entry-level position will require development and support of financial applications and integrations. Primary duties will include Java software development utilizing Spring frameworks and technologies. This job also requires working with workload automation tools and API management with integration platforms. The core Financial System was recently migrated from being hosted on-premises to the Kuali Cloud. The Enterprise Application Team will continue to provide APIs for financial data. We also maintain integrations for third-party ERP solutions as well as support batch processing. The immediate need for this position will be to develop and support existing financial integrations as well as utilize a newly provisioned iPaaS solution when applicable. This iPaaS solution will also be evaluated for use in workload automation of the batch schedule. The long-term need for this position will be to develop solutions for all Enterprise Applications.

The Software Developer will work independently with minimal supervision and at the same time coordinate their activities with other team members. The selected candidate will be expected to take the initiative on projects and be proactive.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies and resolves system errors. Consults with functional users to resolve problems in software systems.
  • Writes code and utilizes low-code solutions.
  • Documents modifications made to applications.
  • Carries out small- to moderately-sized technical tasks with minimal assistance and writes summaries of technical project work.
  • Uses standard diagnostic techniques to analyze, identify and solve problems.
  • Supports the development of plans and processes that minimize risk to services or systems due to errors.
  • Supports planning for implementations and upgrades of software systems.
  • Supports technical projects as part of a project team.
  • Support the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university information as part of the overall University Information Security Program.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate s degree and 4 years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree and 2 years of related experience.
  • Software Development Life Cycle experience with Java or another object-based language.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience identifying and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Knowledge of application programming interfaces (APIs).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Spring frameworks and technologies.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Pipelines, Confluence).
  • Experience with Eclipse or equivalent IDE.
  • Familiarity with Workload automation tools such as BMC Control-M.
  • Knowledge of iPaaS technologies such as Boomi.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate s background and experience.

This is a 35-hour work week union position. Employees currently work a hybrid schedule, minimum three days on-campus in Storrs, CT, maximum two days remote (3/2).
