Senior Payroll Analyst

The Senior Payroll Analyst will be responsible for processing and reconciliation of the payroll and tax administration processes. You will be responsible for producing reports both standard and ad hoc. The Senior Payroll Analyst will routinely interface with HRIS, Benefits, and HR Business Partners in the execution of their responsibilities. This position has a customer-focused outlook and requires superb customer service skills.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Validate and complete new hire entry, employee data changes, status changes, and terminations.
  • Process weekly and biweekly payrolls of a 600-employee organization, including both hourly and salary employees in a non-union environment utilizing an integrated time-tracking solution.
  • Complete audits and analysis of employee timekeeping records and ensure calculated amounts are correct as per recorded time logs, per pay rules, accrual rules, etc.
  • Process, audit, and correct paid-time-off requests.
  • Audit/participate in the audit of payroll processes and business practices to identify financial and operational risks.
  • Address queries our employees may have regarding a variety of payroll matters.
  • Be the subject matter expert on payroll policies and procedures for our company.
  • Identify ways to improve the audit process to close gaps when breakdowns occur.
  • Ensure completion of payroll and tax reconciliation on a regular, periodic basis.
  • Develop and implement new and improved payroll practices and processes.
  • Test new payroll strategies and methods to check their efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver training to educate employees on system and strategy modifications regarding payroll or time-tracking systems.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and governing bodies to ensure timely resolution of all payroll-related tax issues.
  • Manage tax errors by implementing corrective measures to avoid penalties.
  • Analyze any changes to federal and state laws regarding benefits and payroll.
  • Monitor tax notices and ensure relevant updates are made to HRIS system or communications are shared with HCM vendor.
  • Ensure requests and responses to monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax files from governing bodies are provided and/or responded to in a timely manner.
  • Ensure integrity by reviewing tax-related paperwork and conducting internal audits to check for compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Make benefit adjustments to employee records, where necessary, per advisement of Benefits Manager.
  • Oversee the administration of benefit programs and ensure the enrollment of all eligible employees as it pertains to payroll deductions while teaming up with the Benefits Manager.
  • Work with the Benefits Manager to analyze the current benefit programs and processes and provide recommendations to improve them.
  • Assist the Finance team with year-end processes and general requests for information.
  • Additional projects and duties as required to support a growing business.

YOU'LL BRING:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Payroll/Tax Analyst or in a similar role.
  • Bachelor s degree and/or professional certification in related field preferred.
  • Experience with payroll processes, HCM systems and technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, organization, and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as UltiPro, UKG Pro, Kronos, ADP, PeopleSoft, Workday, or Oracle HCM.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with applicable payroll laws and regulations.
  • Certification in CPP, CPM, or FPC is preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of principles, compliance considerations and requirements associated with Benefits Administration.
  • Must be knowledgeable of applicable laws and regulations to perform the duties of the role such as such as FLSA, FMLA, ACA, ADA, etc.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented and concerned with quality and accuracy.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proactive with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong Excel skills.
