NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

ESS is a leading provider of substitute staffing and management programs for the K-12 educational market. We are currently seeking Substitute Principal Positions in all levels (e.g. elementary, middle, and high school).

The Substitute Principal serves as the interim educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe and positive learning environment that meets the mission of the school, approved curricular, and state learning standards.

Achieving academic excellence requires that the Substitute Principal work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school staff hired by the Superintendent of Schools and Board of Education, and to communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, professional development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, budget, and facility operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Valid School Principal's State Certification

2) Minimum of five (5) years administration experience

3) Minimum of eight (8) years teaching experience

4) Excellent communication and computer skills

5) State/FBI Criminal History Clearance

6) District Medical Screen

7) Any other employment documents required by the ESS Human Resources Department

REPORTS TO:

Superintendent of Schools

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES:

Adhere to current and new policies, procedures, regulations, pertaining to supporting students, staff, and instruction

Establish a professional rapport with staff, students, and parents.

Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, staff, parents, and the community

Advise the Superintendent, Board Secretary/Business Administrator, and Director of Facilities of any need for necessary school building repairs

Assure the condition of the school building promotes health, safety, and welfare of students and staff

Communicate school safety and security plan to staff, parents, and students

Conduct fire drills, evacuations, lockdowns, etc. in accordance with state requirements and Board Policy

Administer policies and procedures in compliance with the successful operation of the school building

Assume responsibility for the student services for all students in the school

Provide regular communication efforts regarding activities and programs to parents using the school's technology resources (e.g. website, newsletters, and social media)

Supervise and administer all co-curricular activities

Work with teachers to develop the school curriculum and professional development opportunities

Assist the Superintendent in the recruitment, selection, and assignment of professional staff

Make recommendations to the Superintendent concerning reappointment of personnel under his/her supervision

Interview, supervise, and evaluate all school staff in accordance with Board Policy

Maintain adequate records on all staff and students assigned to the school

Adhere to the District and School Policies for student discipline

Provide leadership in the implementation and development of instructional programs to support the State approved student learning standards

Monitor daily coverage for absent personnel or in emergency situations

Assure all school funds made available for educational supplies and equipment are used effectively

Organize and support the state's testing program for the school

Use excellent written and oral English speaking skills when communicating with students, parents, and staff

Submit all reports in a timely manner as required by the Superintendent

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
