Job Summary:

Looking for a motivated, Mail Processor to join the University Mailing Services within Facilities Management on the Oklahoma State University campus!

Mail Processors at UMS receive incoming mail and parcels from USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. The mail/parcels are then sorted into delivery routes and delivered throughout campus. Mail Processors also pick up outgoing mail/parcels from various departments, create and apply postage and shipping labels if needed, deliver to the correct shipping company, or stage items for shipment pickups.

Though we are a team that shares a common mission, Mail Processors will generally have a focus in one of four units: "Campus Sort", "Drivers", "USPS Outbound", and "Accountables".

Mail receiving and delivery is an essential function of this position and may include driving and handling boxes and mail in all elements of the weather and is a requirement of this position.

The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 5 pm and/or during nonbusiness hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays & when the University is closed if management deems it necessary; therefore, deeming you as essential personnel.

This is a shop operation. Mail is dusty and dirty to handle. Ear protection is available for loud machinery.

Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.

This position regularly stands, bends, stoops, lifts above the shoulders, is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds frequently and in excess of 70 pounds occasionally with assistance.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

High School/GED

Mail Processor I requires six months work experience.

Mail Processor II requires two years of mail processing experience and one year of data entry experience.

Mail Processor III requires four years of mail processing experience, two year of data entry including database and spreadsheet usage.

Mail Processor IV requires seven years of mail processing experience, ability to create databases and spreadsheets and the completion or the FM Leadership Development Program.

Candidate position placement is dependent upon years of experience and available funding.

Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

This position regularly stands, bends, stoops, lifts above the shoulders, is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds frequently and in excess of 70 pounds occasionally with assistance. (USPS Weight Maximum).

Employee in this position may be standing in a stationary position, while sorting mail along with extended walking to receive and deliver mail/parcels.

The person in this position must be able to comprehend mail addresses and process them correctly.

The person in this position frequently communicates with customers and/or vendors who have inquiries and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Ability to become proficient in the use of SQBX tracking system and hand held scanning device.

Ability to become proficient in the use of "AIM" Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology

Must work safely, adhere to all safety requirements, and promote a safe work environment.

Employee may be required to work overtime or shift work when work cannot be accomplished during regular business hours. This position also may require work during non-business hours which includes evenings, weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

Seven years of mail processing experience.

Completion of OSU's Ambassador Program or comparable program.

Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets

Basic knowledge of computers and hand held devices

Basic knowledge of shipping through FedEx, UPS, and USPS

Knowledge of the Oklahoma State University department and building locations.
