This position performs payroll functions for Logan Health (LH) and related entities. The duties may include, processing of bi-weekly payroll data, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time and in accordance with IRS, federal, state and local regulations, and LH procedures and policies. Qualifications: Associates degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Certified Payroll Professional preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Minimum of three (3) years specific payroll experience required. Minimum of three (3) years general accounting experience preferred. Experience with API Time & Attendance and Workday HRIS preferred. Possess knowledge of multi state payrolls, unions, and IRS tax forms (940 and 941) preferred. Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently. Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Job Specific Duties: Analyzes data trends, abstracts data, creates timely reports, and makes recommendations to the leadership team. Creates and participates in the training, implementation, testing, building, and maintenance of computer system programs and updates. Acts as the primary resource for the API Time & Attendance software system. Maintains timecards in accordance with system pay policies and practices per department protocol. Collaborates with constituents to support time off requests, inter-department floating accuracy, training, and education on clocking and pay code utilization. Exhibits a commitment to professionalism while undertaking all tasks and in all interactions. Works in collaboration with Human Resources (HR) to process the time and attendance duties per LH standards. Audits and filters the time and attendance system to identify errors. Assists appropriate stakeholders in analysis reporting verifications. Performs Initial Payroll Process duties per department procedures and protocol. These items include, but are not limited to; uploads time cards to Workday HRIS payroll system, corrects timecard rejects, balances time and attendance file and readies for import to payroll system, enters payroll discrepancy data, enters ETB adjustments, computes garnishment orders, calculates payroll, initiates payroll reports and audits for missing employees, withholdings and/or earnings overrides and checks for balancing. Performs Intermediate Payroll Process duties per department protocol to include, but not limited to; creates payroll and withholding reports, posts payroll, compiles and processes direct deposit files, and completes ACH process for direct deposits. Performs Final Payroll Process duties per department protocol to include, but not limited to; compiles direct deposit vouchers and reports, balances the payroll check register, compiles payroll reports for stakeholders, Pension File validation and benefit plan validation support reports. Performs Post Payroll Process duties per department protocol to include, but not limited to; distributes reports, files documentation, and locks the time and attendance records. Performs other general and additional payroll duties as identified by leadership and per department protocol. These duties include, but are not limited to; researches payroll discrepancy forms, processes Critical Payment Delays, processes pay for final terminations, processes changes in 401K loans, and system updates/conversions. Performs monthly and quarterly duties to include, but not limited to; assists with quarterly reconciliation and preparation of IRS 941 forms, MT UI-5 Files, and other State Reporting. Performs year end duties as identified by leadership to include, but not limited to; assists assigned leadership with year-end reconciliation and preparation of W2 tax documents. Works in collaboration with Accounts Payable (AP) in preparing requests for Payroll-related Vendor payments.
