Shift: 6 AM -7 PM, 6 PM 7 AM

Job Purpose:
Day-to-day operations Responsible to the appropriate HCA/Head Nurse for nursing care provided in a designated correctional clinic or specialized area in compliance with medical plans, policies, and orders for patient care and treatment. Responsible for patient observation and care of inmates. In charge of the medical clinic in the absence of the FICA and Head Nurse. Assists with monthly scheduling and completion of timesheets,

Job Functions:
1. Administers and documents medication as ordered by the physician and is responsible for day-to-day operations of medical cline when HCA is out.
2. Conduct health screenings during sick calls using approved standing orders or making appropriate MD referrals.
3. Document all health care rendered on medical records accurately and legibly, and maintains confidentiality.
4. Assist in planning and coordination of nursing services required to meet the total health care needs of the patient.
5. Assist physicians as needed.
6. Transcribes all MD orders from medical records accurately and legibly.
7. Transfer medical records with appropriate documentation and medication at time of inmate transfer and maintains confidentiality. E 5%
8. Competently performs clinical treatments/procedures using universal precautions in all areas of practice.
9. Maintains 40 hours of in-service education per year to include all mandatory in-service and CPR certifications.
10. Provide emergency treatment to inmates and employees.
11. Participates in employee health issues as directed, i.e., TB screening, Hepatitis B injections, flu injections, and post-exposure assessment.
12. Collaborates with other correctional professionals to assure the social, psychological, and security needs of the inmates are met.
13. Schedule and coordinate appointments or admissions to appropriate physicians or facilities. Accurately complete proper consultation forms.
14. Collect and process lab specimens with proper forms for transport to the appropriate laboratory. Perform approved lab tests at clinic sites
15. Provides inmate health education to the population.
16. Performs clerical duties as directed, i.e., maintaining medical records, filing of medical information and Order to Report (OTR), etc
17. Review all medical records of inmates received.
