The City of St. Helens is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a **Part-time Custodian** position. The successful candidate will join another part-time Custodian to be responsible for a wide range of custodial duties around multiple City facilities.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience in custodial maintenance in a public or commercial building or institution.
- Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous.

- Ability to exercise sound judgment while upholding high integrity and ethical standards.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, often with overlapping or time-sensitive deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- General Microsoft Office skills to use computer for email and timekeeping.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficient knowledge of cleaning equipment and agents.
- Available to work after hours as needed. Position may begin early in the day and potentially into the early evening hours depending on facility needs.
- Resilient to cleaning agents and chemicals.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks.
- Possess working knowledge of methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work.
- Ability to climb ladders and work from heights, if necessary.
**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**
* Must possess a valid driver's license.
* Valid CPR/First Aid certification required when offered.

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**
* Part-time, 20 hours per week
* Hourly rate: $15.52 (Step 1) to $19.05 (Step 5)
* PERS Retirement after six (6) months
* This is not a union covered position
Successful candidates will be required to pass a background check.
