The LU Tutoring Center is hiring motivated, capable and personable students to be tutors. We are looking for tutors in a variety of subjects, including engineering, math, history, biology, chemistry, business, and the social sciences.
* Meets individually with students to assist them in understanding course content
* Encourages students to develop study skills that lead to long-term retention of course material
* Maintains consistent communication with supervisory staff
* Models appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty and students
* Attends mandatory tutor training meetings
* Completes and submits tutoring appointment report after each tutoring session on Navigate
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
* Demonstrated proficiency in specific tutoring subject areas (A or B grades in courses)
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong decision-making skills
* Two references, including at least one from a faculty member who can verify subject proficiency
* Computer proficiency
