POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision provides effective and efficient attendance support to the assigned school; performs and coordinates varied and responsible support services. Acts as a liaison with internal and external contacts (parents, community, etc.) within the District. This position reports to the Principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for keeping attendance records of all students in the school and for record keeping of participation of school activities on a daily basis. Records circumstances that arise which impact school attendance. Applies District standards for absences and tardiness and processes documentation accordingly.

Performs a full range of attendance clerk duties; answers switchboard/greets visitors, makes appointments, processes necessary paperwork, prepares minutes as needed; set up and maintain filing systems; set up work procedures, arranges and confirm appointments, handles incoming mail and other materials).

Responds to requests for records, attendance, etc. received from schools, individuals, and community agencies, (i.e. police, social services, social security and various community agencies).

Prepares communication to send to parents and other community agencies per District policy. Is responsible for the attendance recognition programs.

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED certificate required.

Two (2) years of responsible clerical experience; service with school age children desirable.

Makes administrative decisions which affect internal operations of the school.

Light independent judgment is necessary. Decisions made on an as-needed basis to establish operation of the office.

Requires regular contact with internal and external personnel within department. Verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required.

Applies, recommends and implements technology knowledge (spreadsheets, word processing, and database management) concepts to improve the effectiveness of the Department.

Normal office setting in a school.

Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.

NOTE: This is a grade 17, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
