**Shipping - Production Driver**
Elkhart, IN, USA Req #402 Wednesday, March 17, 2021 Position located at Elkhart Plastics - Elkhart, Indiana Class A CDL Local Delivery Driver
JOB SUMMARY: The Delivery Driver will ensure that products are delivered on time and in the proper condition. This position will pack and load products onto trucks before delivering orders to customers on predetermined routes.
Candidate should also have a current DOT physical.
**Duties and responsibilities**
* Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers
* Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
* Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
* Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
* Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
* Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
* Collect and verify delivery instructions
* Report defects, accidents or violations
* Complete all paperwork accurately and turn in on time
* Communicate effectively with Customer Service
* Assist with loading and unloading trucks to speed up down time
Qualifications include:
* Proven work experience as a truck driver
* Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
* Ability to regularly drive for extended periods of time
* Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
* No recent moving or driving violations
* Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
* Valid CDL drivers license
* Must be a licensed forklift truck operator
License: Valid Class A CDL, Clean Driving Record
Experience: 1 years of experience in driving Semi-Trucks
Knowledge: Communicates effectively with co-workers and supervisors. Able to read and write basic English for daily paperwork as well as basic math skills. Strong organizational and problem
solving skills. Ability to develop and implement the use of processes and procedures.Ability to use all relevant systems, programs, and equipment to complete job
Other Requirements: Interpret written and oral instructions. Work effectively with minimal supervision. Analyze situations and take appropriate action.
