DEFINITION OF WORK: This is routine custodial work involving the care and housekeeping of the Robert A. Christensen Justice Center. Work involves varied responsibility for participating in the performance of a variety of tasks including cleaning, minor maintenance and repair tasks, and room set-ups.

Hours are 4:30pm - 1:00am, Monday - Friday. This position also includes a $400 annual clothing allowance.

Generally, the hiring range is $37,440-$39,506. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)

* Maintain all floor surfaces.

* Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies.

* Dusts and polishes woodwork and furniture.

* Cleans and maintains all interior building surfaces.

* Collects and disposes of trash.

* Secure building nightly.

* Operation, basic maintenance and adjustment of mechanical custodial equipment.

* Report all maintenance issues to Lead Custodian.

* May be required to perform basic maintenance

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is completed in pairs, but each staff member may work at times with minimal to no supervision based on the staff level (e.g. vacations, sick, etc.).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not directly supervise other employees.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Ability to work independently and use past experience and knowledge to make appropriate decisions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Generally a high school diploma or GED equivalent and knowledge of the proper use and safety of cleaning supplies and tools or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

* Some knowledge of safety standards and practices.

* Knowledge of materials and procedures used in cleaning and maintenance operations.

Skills:

* Ability to read and comprehend warning labels, simple instructions, and communicate with co-workers.

* Follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.

* Ability to comprehend mathematical instructions and measurements

Abilities:

* Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or oral form.

* Have the ability to learn and master essential custodial tasks.

* Work independently or within a small group.

* Ability to operate mechanized cleaning equipment.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

* Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.

* This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Work Environment: Will use various cleaning chemicals, vacuums, brooms, mops, etc.

Physical Demands: Work requires the ability to frequently lift and carry 50lbs. Work requires the ability to push and pull 100lbs. frequently. Also requires frequent bending, squatting, standing, climbing, kneeling and walking. May be required to occasionally work in small, hard to reach spaces. May be required to pass a physical capabilities exam.

Material and Equipment Directly Used: Work is generally performed indoors and requires exposure to dust, fumes, and chemical cleaners. This position requires the incumbent to remain available via mobile cellular device/email access during and after normally scheduled business hours.

In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
