QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or its equivalency. Must be highly competent in the operation of business office systems and have some knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and equipment. Excellent communication, organizational and public relations skills are required. Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and demonstrate good business grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, and exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative. Must have excellent skills in operating personal computers. Must be adaptable to changing priorities, and can work under minimum supervision or independently. Ability to efficiently handle multiple assignments with deadlines simultaneously. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is preferred. Some knowledge of public school policies, operations, and procedures for attendance. Must be aware of the community resources available to assist with the maintenance of school attendance.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Records, updates, and monitors student attendance on the Comprehensive Information Management System (CIMS) of the AS/400 database. Serves as a member of the School Attendance Support Team (SAST). Manages telephone communications and written correspondence with the parents regarding unexcused absences and documents responses on the Parent Link System or attendance card. Develop and distribute an attendance bulletin to all school staff by 11:30 a.m. each school day. Receives and files truancy intervention plans in the appropriate student's attendance profile folder. Sends a copy of the 6-day unexcused letter to the Principal so that the student can be scheduled for the next SAST agenda. Assists the Social Workers, Security Specialist, Attendance Officer, and Return to School Officer, by providing information related to attendance and/or home environment and follow up on previous student referrals. Performs other related office support duties as assigned.

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK: Performs clerical work typically performed in an office setting. Work requires sitting, occasional walking, light lifting of office items up to 10 pounds, fingering, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word, hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: This is a 9.5 month (191 days) position with a 7-hour workday, pay grade 104.1, with excellent benefits.
