Job Description:

Interactive Media and Language Center seeks student assistants to join our team of student workers. Serving as an iMLC assistant involves helping students and faculty in our spaces, as well as other tasks related to the materials and facilities. The Interactive Media & Language Center consists of three different rooms, a service desk, and an encoding room. The audio and video materials supplement Baylor's modern language courses. Students working in the iMLC are active all the time, either helping students and faculty or working on assigned projects.

Customer service and computer skills are essential. We look for outgoing and helpful people who are willing to learn new things. Priority is given to students who have or are working on foreign language skills. Preference is given to those students that have already qualified for Federal Work-Study and accepted their financial aid package. Preference is given to incoming first-year students. Majors and minors in area studies, international studies, and modern languages are strongly encouraged to apply as are speakers of languages other than English. This position may be extended to the following school year.

Job Functions

  1. Works with Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC) faculty, staff, and students to promote language study, especially computer-assisted language study.
  2. Must have technology skills and the willingness to improve and increase these skills especially as they relate to computer-assisted language learning.
  3. Creates/posts (on-line and in Old Main/Draper/Burleson buildings) flyers, posters, handouts and more to market our department. iMLC assistants must be advocates for language learning.
  4. Maintaining printers, computers, and other technology in working order.
  • Perform business operations duties for assigned area of responsibility

  • Assist with various projects, activities and tasks related to business operations
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
