L.J. Gonzer Associates is looking for individuals to join our pool of qualified candidates for potential assignment as a Construction Cost Estimator. The Construction Cost Estimator's work will be critical for the planning and completion of our client's large-scale, multi-million dollar construction projects. This is a long term contract position that will be based in New York City, with occasional field visits to sites throughout the Five Boroughs depending on the needs of the projects.Responsibilities of the Construction Cost Estimator:Provide Cost Estimating Engineering Services to the Principal Estimator.Interact with in-house Design and Construction Personnel.Be responsible for the development and preparation of Capital Project Cost Estimates for the Capital Program, and various miscellaneous in-house design projects during the planning and design phases of the project.Prepare, maintain, modify and revise cost estimates for any deliverable aspects of the project including but not limited to: studies, conceptual design options, preliminary design, final design.Prepare and negotiate estimates for Additional/Credit Change Orders in construction and contractor construction bid packages.Cost estimates shall be prepared, itemized, rolled up and summarized in a spreadsheet format using a Work Breakdown Structure to be determined by the client.Requirements of the Construction Cost Estimator:Bachelor's or Master s degree in engineering, architecture, business administration, or a similar field.Proven experience in Engineering & Construction with demonstrated Cost Estimating background in the following disciplines: Electrical/Mechanical/Signal Systems/ Communications (with demonstrated background in Communication Based Train Control, Public Address Customer Information System, Sonnet ATM, Automatic Train Supervision, Advance Communications System for Rail Transit, Electrical and Power Systems, Signal and Systems); or Architectural/Civil/Structural/Conveying Systems (with demonstrated background in Subsurface construction, tunneling, Cut and CoverConstruction, Mining Operations, Underpinning and Structural Support technologies, De Watering, Concrete and Structural Steel Construction, utility work, conveying systems, architectural finishes and pre-fab items).Cost estimating experience with multi-million dollar projects.Excellent negotiating skills.Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.In-depth knowledge and experience in state-of-the-art capital cost estimating techniques.Demonstrated knowledge of software applications related to capital project cost estimating.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.L.J.
