The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture is seeking a new team member to join its cooperative agreements team who is passionate about American agriculture. This position will have the opportunity to travel across the U.S. for meetings and conferences. The candidate will have the opportunity to build relationships and collaborate with leaders from state departments of agriculture from all 50 states and four U.S. territories, government entities, and major agricultural corporations.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Co-lead the daily operations of the NASS cooperative agreement and part-time enumerator workforce across the country.
  • Serve as liaison between NASDA and NASS from the national to regional level
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to enumerators
  • Oversee the human resources of the enumerator program, including: recruitment, hiring, promotions, award programs, payroll processing, injury reports and insurance claims, evaluations, disciplinary actions, investigating employee grievances, processing garnishment orders, annual compliance reports, and assist in the development of necessary policies and procedures.
  • Manage administrative activities of the cooperative agreement including: budget oversight, financial and programmatic reporting, reviewing expenses, developing employee communications, assisting with the annual audit, and coordinating hotel contracts for training workshops.
  • Optimize training for the enumerator workforce to increase efficiency and morale
  • Maintain positive relationships with the NASDA members to amplify the work of the enumerators
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of human resources experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve problems
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentations skills
  • Superior interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • High level of independence in day-to-day tasks
  • Self-motivated as well as a team player
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented work environment
  • Willing to learn new duties and technology-related skills as required
  • Experience with developing and implementing workshops, conferences, and off-site educational experiences
SALARY RANGE- $130,000-$150,000

WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time, exempt position may be remote or work at NASDA headquarters at 4350 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA, two blocks from the Ballston Metro Station (orange and silver lines).

For employees based at headquarters, we offer a hybrid work schedule, with three days in the office and two days working from home.
