Job Details

Job Summary Processing includes verifying images on PACS, Radiology Information System, receiving and tracking films, assuring exams are correct and in completed status.

This position interacts directly in person and over the telephone with Radiologists, clinicians, community physicians, and other university personnel.

This position provides a critical service acting as a liaison between the Department of Radiology, clinics, physicians at UCDH and outside physicians requesting radiographic services.

Work is referred to the supervisor and/or manager when standard procedures or processes do not apply.

This position may perform duties in the Main Hospital, Ambulatory Care Center and/or Warehouse as deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of all State of California and Federal HIPAA Rules and Regulations regarding the release of medical information, protected health information and HIPAA privacy and security practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of EMR and PC-based software applications, to accurately retrieve radiology images, patient demographic information, exam information.
  • Ability to learn new applications.
  • Knowledge and experience required to accurately enter and retrieve patient data using standard keyboard.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to independently recognize and define a problem; identify the resources available to help solve the problem; create and implement viable solutions and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
  • Must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure. Must be able to work/communicate with co-workers at all levels under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to maintain work effectiveness when faced with deadlines, changing priorities, fast-paced work environment, and conflicting demands from a variety of sources.
  • Decision-making skills to independently exercise delegated authority to take action, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of delegated authority have been reached.
  • Ability to work in a very cool environment (computer area).Ability and mobility to walk from location to location within the Hospital and other campus (clinic) locations

Department Overview

The Department of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven-day a week operation providing imaging services to adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients. Radiology images are available 24-hour/seven-days to UCDH patients and clinicians as well as specific services to radiology film processing at UC Davis Health.
