Job Summary:

Leads the process of generating and managing digital computer aided design (CAD) models of the origination's facilities using building information systems (BIS) to support decision-making within the planning, design and construction (PDC) process. Develops and maintains standards, protocols and approaches to building information models (BIM) systems to improve the organization's documentation of the built environment to ensure accurate, informative and meaningful record of how physical space is planned and utilized. Serves as the BIM representative to larger PDC meetings.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generates and/or manages building information models (BIM) utilizing AutoCAD, Revit and related computer aided design (CAD) software. Understands, promotes and implements BIM standards relative to the origination's facility portfolio.

  • Manages model integrity, maintenance of templates/ families, and applications of best practice for BIM. Uses CAD drafting, spreadsheets and databases for data manipulation and interoperability between BIM and analysis tools.

  • Determines which of a wide variety of database, CAD, BIM applications is the most efficient and optimized approach to solving technical or geometric problems related to design and construction (PDC) process functions. Reviews BIM content, checks for errors and inconsistencies in the work of others, keeps files as small as possible through a systematic management process. Reviews as-built current conditions of existing facilities to ensure accuracy of as-built facility BIM models.

  • Partners with consulting architects and engineers and BIM designers to create and issue drawing sets, including setup, quality assurance of model fidelity, documentation and archiving. Works with design teams to implement and support BIM data use and manipulation within models and for export/import interfaces with other programs. Builds and maintains architectural models to ensure speed of production and to highlight changes to the rest of the PDC team.

  • Assists the project team with model visualizations. Manages and uses coordination, scheduling, programming, file sharing and collaboration platforms. Maintains databases of space to ensure accuracy of inventory and tracking of space type, function, use and sub-use and other space metrics.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's in architecture, engineering or related discipline

EXPERIENCE

  • Three years' experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.
