Job Summary: SR1, a 501(c)(3) award-winning non-profit that serves diverse populations in health, technology, and education, is seeking a full-time Senior Strategic Finance Manager. This pivotal role is ideal for someone eager to drive financial strategies and growth across various initiatives such as SR1 Agriculture and Food Science, SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy (CPSA), and other growing projects. The candidate will handle financial planning, budgeting proposals, and establishing financial partnerships essential for organizational growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial planning and strategy for SR1's projects, grants, and educational programs.
  • Seek and evaluate investment opportunities and donation sources to support the financial growth of the organization.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely processing.
  • Produce accurate monthly financial statements and track funding income and expenses.
  • Support budgeting and strategic financial planning for expansion and development.
  • Explore and implement the best employee benefits for staff and volunteers, enhancing organizational welfare.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer to align financial management with organizational goals.
  • ·Maintain high standards of confidentiality and reliability, adapting work schedules as needed for project demands.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A passion for finance within a non-profit setting.
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
  • Profound knowledge and ability to research non-profit accounting principles and grant management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and digital.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiar with accounting software.


Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Familiarity with Single Audit requirements and federal/state grant funding.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse team and independently.


Salary and Benefits:

Full-time position with a starting salary of $70,000 per year, with potential increases based on experience and contributions to financial growth. Benefits include 401(k), dental, health, and vision insurance, along with paid time off.


Work Environment and Schedule:

Onsite office setting from Monday to Friday.

Key Skills Needed for Non-Profit Finances, and Fundraising:

Financial Analysis and Planning: Proficiency in analyzing financial statements and projections. Ability to create detailed financial plans and budgets.


Knowledge of Bonds and Securities: Understanding of bond markets, including municipal and educational bonds. Skills in evaluating bond ratings and yields.


Fundraising Expertise: Experience with fundraising strategies, including grant writing and donor relations. Ability to organize and manage fundraising campaigns and events.


Educational Finance Management: Knowledge of funding mechanisms for educational institutions, including federal and state grants. Experience in managing school budgets and financial reporting.


Investment Management: Ability to develop and manage investment portfolios.

Understanding of risk management and asset allocation strategies.


Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with financial regulations affecting non-profits and educational institutions. Experience ensuring compliance with federal and state financial reporting requirements.


Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication skills to engage with donors, investors, and educational administrators. Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.


Strategic Planning: Skills in long-term financial planning and strategic goal setting. Ability to align financial strategies with organizational objectives.


Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess financial health and identify opportunities for improvement. Problem-solving abilities to address financial challenges.


Project Management: Ability to manage multiple financial projects and initiatives simultaneously. Skills in coordinating with various departments to achieve financial goals.


Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks, fundraising software). Ability to utilize technology for financial analysis and reporting.


Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders. Ability to negotiate and advocate for financial resources.
