Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with physician and/or medical provider orders and established policies and procedures under the supervision of the Clinical Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited program
  • Must be a RN registered with the NC Board of Nursing and in good standing
  • CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Passage of a criminal background check, OIG exclusion and drug screenings
  • Valid driver s license and reliable transportation

Work Environment

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. The noise level is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear.

Task List

  • Develop nursing care plans
  • Participates in Chronic Care Management
  • Responsible for providing care to the following patient populations: adult and geriatric
  • Performs nursing procedures under supervision of the doctor and as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the NC Board of Nursing
  • Courteously greet patients and escort them from the waiting area to the processing room
  • Gathers necessary information to determine the needs to be met prior to the doctor s exam
    • Obtain patient vital signs. Blood pressure, temperature, and pulse (radial or apical)
    • Obtain patient weight and record information in the EMR
    • Review allergies, prescription medications, and over the counter medications
  • Provides assistance as required during medical examinations and procedures
  • May provide clerical duties for the physicians such as scribing as needed
  • Gives instructions to patients as instructed/ordered by doctor. Makes specialty referrals as ordered by doctor and documents medical information in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Assists patients any time need is apparent or as directed by the doctor or nurse manager
  • Assist with patient calls, hospital calls, prescription refills, and lab/test results
  • Communicate with medical providers regarding patient concerns, plan of care, and intervention
  • Communicate with patients about concerns, changes in care, additional follow up and referrals
  • Communicate with other health care providers, outside physicians, and hospitals regarding changes to patients care
  • Mentor colleagues in the acquisition of clinical knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgement
  • Perform laboratory work with scope of practice
    • Check HGB of patient through via fingerstick after training and certification by the Physician(s), Nurse Manager, Nurse Practitioner(s), Physician Assistant(s), or other Qualified Personnel as required per protocol and document in the patient s electronic medical record (EMR)
    • Read stool cards as required and documents results in the stool card template in the EMR
  • Maintains HIPPA and confidentiality
  • Maintain accurate medical records by documenting patient communication, changes in intervention per medical provider, referral calls, pharmacy calls, and triage calls in the EMR.
  • Review labs and reports received to the appropriate provider.
  • Review charts on physician desk for physician orders as needed
  • Triage as delegated
  • Follows principles of medical ethics for registered nurses
  • Ability to effectively use the Hemocue or Clinitek 50 machine after training and certification by the Nurse Manager or designee
