OB/GYN Physician


Job Details

Responsible for medical care of LSCC patients by providing comprehensive out-patient care. Under the direction of the Medical Director, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of LSCC. Delivers care appropriate for an out-patient, primary care community health center with multicultural, multilingual patient population.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides exams, diagnoses and treat female patients of all ages.
  • Full participation in LSCC OB/GYN hospital call coverage (internal and external "no doc" call) arranged by the OB/GYN Medical Director and OB/GYN
  • Acts as a consultant on all obstetrics/gynecological cases referred by other staff providers of LSCC
  • Competes medical charts after each visit in the electronic medical records.
  • Provides quality medical care according to standards established by LSCC
  • Participates in providing continuity of care including hospitals in-patient management and prenatal rounding on expectant/recently delivered LSCC Obstetric patients.
  • All other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Medical Director.


Coaching / Training:

  • Provides in-service trainings for staff in selected topics in OB/GYN as deemed necessary by the Medical Director.
  • Assures a high quality educational experience for medical students, residents, and other individuals in a training role.


Operations:

  • Provides supervision to advanced practice nurses and physician assistants in accordance with the LSCC Delegation Protocol/Collaborative Practice.
  • Supervises medical assistants and lab personnel in area of specific support services for patient care.
  • Applies for and obtains staff privileges at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required by LSCC.
  • Attends internal and external meetings, workshops and conferences, and participates on task forces or committees, when necessary and as required.
  • Actively monitor OB/GYN service productivity.
  • Fulfills established guidelines set in place for provider encounter levels.


Compliance:

  • Assists and participates in internal quality control.
  • Performs all duties and services in full compliance with LSCC's Quality Standards.
  • Achieves and maintains LSCC Core Clinical Competencies.


Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and allied services commensurate with his/her training.
  • Demonstrates a special interest in the area of community medicine.
  • Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community.
  • Ability to recognize and understand the public health, social, and economic factors which impact the overall health of LSCC patients.
  • Ability to support LSCC mission and readily serve its patient population.
  • Maintains a professional manner and appearance that contributes to the professional image presented to individuals within and outside of LSCC.
  • Ability to work in and support electronic health records environment.
  • Ability to travel and work from various clinic locations as necessary.


Required Experience, Education, and License:

  • Current valid license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
  • Current DEA certificates.
  • Board eligibility in OB/GYN is required; board certification is required no late than three (3) years following date of initial hire/appointment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).


Preferred Experience, Education, and License:

  • Proficiency in EMR system.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
