Duties:

??This position supports the operations of Tahoe Dam, located in Tahoe City, CA

by operating electrical and hydraulic equipment to regulate the positions of the

17 slide gates that comprise the control structures of Tahoe Dam. The enrollee

may also be called upon in emergency situations for other Dams in the Region.?

??Dam Operations to include operation of electrical and hydraulic equipment

to regulate the positions of the 17 slide gates that comprise the control

structures of the Dam? 60%

??Performs variety of normal maintenance and preventive maintenance

activities to include mechanical maintenance, carpentry, painting, debris and

snow removal and general site clean-up maintenance.? 30%

??Mentors other dam operations personnel on operations, safety and

regulatory procedures.? 10%

Required Safety Gear: ??Personnel protective equipment, safety boots, hard

hat, gloves, face shields, etc.?

Physical requirements: ?Frequently handles objects weighing up to 50 pounds

and occasionally handles or moves objects up to 100 pounds. Daily activities

involve pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, standing, kneeling, and bending.

Occasionally works in awkward and cramped positions. Winter snow removal

activities can require continuous and strenuous physical effort for up to 4

hours at a time. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather

conditions. Temperature extremes range from -20 degrees to 90 degrees F.

Exposure to outside temperature at all times in unheated dam facilities. Gate

operating machinery is oily and greasy and operatory is exposed to these

materials during daily operations and during maintenance activities. May be

exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, strains, sprains, slips, falls

and frost bite.
