About Temple Israel:
Temple Israel is the Jewish home for about 300 families in the NH/Maine Seacoast area. Affiliated with the Conservative Movement, we welcome members of many backgrounds, ages, and levels of observance, including many interfaith families. We operate a vibrant preschool and religious school for grades K-7. The community gathers for weekly and special services, holiday celebrations, adult education classes, PJ Library, youth group, and teen programs, art exhibits and cultural events, book club discussions, and

tikkun olam

(healing the world) social action projects.

Job Summary:
Temple Israel seeks a highly organized individual with excellent interpersonal skills to serve as the chief administrative officer (AD) of the synagogue. The AD executes the vision of the temple board of directors in the development, implementation, and analysis of policies and programs of the temple. The AD creates a welcoming environment for members and visitors, ensures the smooth functioning of business operations, and provides administrative support to clergy and school staff. This is a full-time role and there will be some evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities:

Office Management : Manage the day-to-day operations of the synagogue, including phone, mail, email inquiries, and reception. Maintain temple calendar in ShulCloud. Coordinate vendor appointments; order supplies. Provide administrative support to the rabbi and educational staff. Manage parking lot leases. Coordinate staff IT needs with vendors. Support event programming, including serving on High Holiday and Passover steering committees. Recruit and manage volunteers for regular and ad-hoc projects.

Financial:

Review and code vendor invoices for payment. Complete ShulCloud billing for tuition and other fees. Respond to member inquiries regarding dues, tuition, and expense reimbursement. Monitor credit cards and reconcile petty cash. Assist bookkeeper/treasurer with financial reports and budgeting as needed. Record, acknowledge and report on donations. Track annual pledges/billing and initiate collection of outstanding amounts.

Facilities:

Work with the VP of House Committee to ensure the safety, maintenance, cleanliness, and timely repair of temple property. Supervise maintenance staff as needed. Program HVAC for special events. Support temple security policies.

Human Resources:

Assist with payroll and benefits administration, and onboard new staff.

Membership : Respond to inquiries from potential and current members. Enter new members and preschool families in ShulCloud and update records as needed. Issue parking permits and key fobs.

Board and Committee Support:

Attend monthly board meetings; maintain records of supporting documents and committee reports including monthly uploads to ShulCloud.

Communication . Oversee development and distribution of temple newsletters, congregation-wide emails, website, social media, publications, Annual Report, mailings, and other materials. Produce monthly communication reports.

Collaboration : Build and maintain productive relationships with board members, volunteers, and members of the congregation.

Qualifications:

4+ years experience in an office management or administrative role.

Proficient in administrative tasks, scheduling, and communication.

Strong organizational, project management and time-management skills, and the ability to delegate.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, rabbi, lay leaders, and community members.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Canva; and willing to learn new tools. Familiarity with ShulCloud (CRM) and Quickbooks are a bonus.

Excited to learn about and respect cultural traditions, specifically those of Judaism.

Editing skills are a plus.

Benefits:

Competitive salary: $60,000 - $65,000
