Your future position?

As a Material Handler, you will help to stage raw materials for production and execute all transactions in a safe, timely and accurate manner.

Responsibilities:

Handles containers, drums, and pails of material. Operates forklifts and other powered material handling equipment. Utilizes desktop, vehicle-mounted, and hand-held computers for receiving instructions and real-time inventory updates. Maintains accurate records by use of Radio Frequency Bar Code equipment. Stage raw materials and finished goods in and out of Production as required. Some Material Handlers may be required to drive the Switcher (Yard Jockey) as the major percentage of their time. Some Material Handlers may be required to kit material for compounding as the major percentage of their time.

Loads and unloads trucks. Labels and weighs containers and draws samples of food-grade ingredients. Evaluates raw materials in warehouses and production areas and submits questionable raw materials to Quality Control.
Ensures compliance with all Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines. Attends safety meetings and exercises constant care to prevent injury to self and others. Maintains level of housekeeping/sanitation which meets the Company's standards and guidelines.

Academic Background:

High School diploma or equivalent required, with basic math, reading and record-keeping skills. Minimum of 1-year experience in computerized warehouse and real-time data collection and valid forklift license required (can be obtained on the job). Familiarity with inventory systems, bar-coding experience preferred. Must be able to follow written and flow-charted instructions. Dependability, effective communication skills, attention to detail and commitment to providing quality and timely service are essential. Must be flexible, safety-oriented, customer-focused and willing to work overtime as needed.

Organization Relationships:

Internal Contacts: Warehouse/ Distribution employees, Production, Manufacturing, Quality Control Purchasing.
External: Truck Drivers

Working Conditions:

Working conditions may include exposure to dust and/or fumes raw materials and finished products.
Effect of Errors:

Improper storage of raw materials may result in product spoilage. Failure to move materials in a timely manner may result in production delays. Failure to operate equipment in a safe manner may result in injury to self or others.
Physical Demands/ Dexterity:

Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and maneuver minimum or 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums with proper material handling equipment. Must be able to operate material handling equipment safely and comply with GMPs.

Equipment Used:

Must operate desktop, vehicle-mounted, and hand-held computers, in addition to forklift and stretch wrap machines.
Responsibility for Work of Others:

No supervisory responsibility, but works as part of a team and must report safety violations to Lead or wrap machines.
