Library Associate, Access Services


Job Details

The Library Associate manages training and supervision of student employees for various tasks and projects throughout the library, supports Interlibrary Loan request processing, and manages various circulation tasks. In all duties, the Library Associate develops relationships and/or interacts with student employees, fellow library staff and librarians, law school faculty and staff, law school alumni, and members of the public.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's DegreeOR Associate's Degree in Library Science (or a related field) with 3 years of directly related work experience in academic libraries or other law libraries.OR High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 6 years of directly related work experience in academic libraries or other law libraries.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies: Understands terminology and functions of basic computer knowledge (CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, memory, hard drive, server, operating system, cloud storage, USB, etc.).

Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on computers and other office machinery, such as Xerox copiers, scanners, printers, and multi-line phone systems.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills, including an attention to detail and customer service.

Ability to both work as part of a team and work independently.

Ability to work well in a rapidly changing environment and adapt to changes in workflows and procedures.

Skilled in project management.

Position Schedule:

Regular Semester Hours: M-F, 10:30am-7pm

Extended Hours (Finals): M-F, 11:30am-8pm

Reduced Hours Days: 8:30am-5pm or as arranged.

Occasional partial weekend days.

Bachelor's Degree

Associate's Degree in Library Science (or a related field) with 3 years of directly related work experience in academic libraries or other law libraries.

OR

High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 6 years of directly related work experience in academic libraries or other law libraries.

1 year of full-time experience in an academic law library or 2 years of part-time experience in an academic law library.

1 year of direct supervisory experience, including hiring, firing, and performance management.

Experience with on-campus student employment and/or shift workers in an environment that requires continuous coverage.

Experience mentoring college students.

Experience working with legal terminology.
