Job Details

JOBSUMMARY

Cleansand services rooms, baths, lavatories, if any, and other residentareas. Dusts furnitureand equipment. Cleans windowsills, baseboards, empties trash baskets,and arranges furniture inan orderly fashion. Performsa variety of related duties in resident areas. Cleansand services assigned areas and equipment; efficient expenditures ofsoap, polishes andsimilar supplies; and keeps nursing facility in clean and orderlymanner. Services areperformed within every department of the facility and are plannedwith all departments.

EDUCATION

Mustbe able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Previousexperience preferable but not essential.

2. Workerreceives on-the-job training with supervision.

3. Musthave some knowledge in the use of cleaning devices such as brooms,mops, buffers and othercleaning equipment.

4. Hasan interest in learning, ability to cooperate, and is willing to workunder supervision.

5. Mustwork scheduled hours each week, which may include working weekendsand holidays.

6. Musthave a pre-employment and an annual Tuberculosis screeningexamination.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Toexecute duties under the direction and supervision of the Directorof Nursesand/or Administrator, Charge Nurse and Housekeeping Supervisoraccording to assignment.

2. Tokeep the nursing facility in a clean and sanitary condition in orderto provide for thewelfare and care of the residents in a healthful environment.

3. Must have a genuine interestin working with geriatrics.

4. Willingnessto perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis, andperform tasks despitefrequent interruptions.

5. Abilityto perform tasks with due consideration for residents in area.

6. Initiativeand judgment involved in maintaining assigned area in clean andorderly condition.

7. Worksunder close supervision performing simple, standardized tasks.

8. Performsother tasks as assigned.

8. Attends required staffin-services, meetings, orientation, and continuing educationactivities as required.

10. Isaware of and adheres to Patient's Bill of Rights andconfidentiality of patient information including HIPAA regulations.

11. Interactswith patients and family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillarystaff in a non-judgmental, supportive and calm manner.

? Isaware of Patient Abuse Reporting Law.

? Participatesas assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates apositive, helpful and enthusiastic attitude.

Functionsrelated to cleaning.

1. Dustfurniture with damp cloth or polishing cloth daily; straightenfurniture.

2. Dust light fixtures outsideand inside, dust windowsills, baseboards and beds, clean all doorvents.

3. Emptyand wash ashtrays and wastebaskets.

4. Drymop floors in residents' rooms then wet mop rooms, if assigned.

5. Clean wash basins, commodes,polish chrome fixtures in bathrooms, wash all mirrors,and spot clean walls.

6. Cleanwindow blinds. Clean beds thoroughly. Clean bedside tables inresident's rooms, dustall shelves, removing ail articles making sure thorough cleaningis done.

7. Cleanhouse-cleaning cart. Clean any equipment used daily.

8. Cleanall rooms each week.

9. Assistwith emergency cleaning during the day as required.

10. Mop,wax and buff hallways, living areas, and dining areas as assigned.

Functionsrelated to supplies and equipment:

1. Practiceeconomy in using supplies and equipment.

2. Dispensesupplies according to need.

3. Maintainsafeguards for the care, storage, and use of supplies and equipment.

4. Reportto Administrator or Charge Nurse any supplies or equipment needed, orany broken or defective equipment.

5. Seethat resident rooms are prepared for new admissions.

6. Assistin moving resident within facility.

Functionsrelated to facility supervision:

1. Makefrequent rounds of total facility to inspect for cleanliness andorder.

2. Inspectfor maintenance and refer needs to maintenance department orAdministrator and/orCharge Nurse.
