WHO WE ARE: Dina Bandman Interiors is a boutique full-service residential interior design firm located in North Beach. Although a small firm, we have a heavy project load with each project typically consisting of a remodel component in addition to furnishings. The firm is fast paced which provides the opportunity to jump into projects and have a high level of responsibility from the get go. Individuals who apply should have a positive, go getter attitude, be passionate about design, detail oriented, natural problem solver/solution seeker and able to keep up with change, and love dogs - as Gypsy the Shmorkie is at the office often.


The Design Assistant is a support to the DBI Team. The Design Assistant role includes responsibility for managing the studio and design library as well as budgeting, ordering and tracking certain aspects of interior design projects. Impeccable interpersonal skills are required so that the Design Assistant can collaborate and build relationships with vendors as well as support the design team. Excellent time management skills, leadership abilities, and attention to detail position the Design Assistant for success. The Design Assistant is expected to have a can-do attitude and a willingness to put in extra or odd hours and effort as a given project goes through more time intensive phases, such as the first presentation and install. The Design Assistant is expected to have or acquire proficiency with AutoCAD, Google Sheets or like program, Google Slides or like program, Ivy (interior design software), and Asana (project management software).


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, manage ordering and collaborate with vendors and other third-parties to align timelines
  • Keep organized project bins and Google Drive folders for each client to help support the Project Manager and Designers.
  • Transfer emails and other forms of communication to Asana
  • When needed, coordinate and/or attend client, contractor, sub-contractor, and other representative meetings as well as occasionally attend on site meetings with Contractors and Foremen, taking and storing detailed notes
  • Manage and organize FF+E libraries
  • Edit client presentation slides
  • Update CAD floor plans and elevations
  • Maintain project tracking schedules
  • Draft client proposals
  • Design Center Errands
  • Provide design input or help as needed
  • Help prepare the Principal for meetings by gathering samples, tear sheets, or any other materials that may be needed for site and client meetings.
  • For the purpose of workplace efficiency and project success, Design Assistants are also accountable for keeping office supplies stocked and keeping the office tidy and organized. The Design Assistant will work with Principal to assess the office and make recommendations to maximize efficiency.


Qualifications/ Who you are

  • 1+ years of experience working in a design firm.
  • CAD proficient (able to space plan and draft elevations)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills- must be prompt in correspondence with vendors, clients and team
  • Experience with Project Management, including the use of various Project Management related tools.
  • A strong attention to detail as well as an intensity about finding errors, keeping the project on schedule, and finding ways to optimize existing processes.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite (Google sheets, Slides, Gmail, etc), Asana, Slack preferred
  • Knowledge of IVY is helpful
  • Exceptional organizational skills - we work on multiple projects at a time and so will you!

Additional Notes: The preferred candidate should be able to work from the office full-time. Flexibility is valued at DBI, and depending on the needs of the office schedules/meetings, some remote work is allowed. A car is highly recommended!
