MGB-14761- Central Sterile Technician - Salem, MA - 13 Weeks Contract
Sigma Healthcare team is currently looking for a Central Sterile Technician to work onsite at our client's healthcare facility in Salem, MA.
Shift: 22:30 - 07:00
Unit Description:
- The Sterile Processing Department (Central Supply, or Sterile Supply as it is also known) comprises that service within the hospital in which medical/surgical instruments and equipment are cleaned, prepared, processed, stored, and issued for patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Extensive knowledge of the best practices for infection control, hazardous waste disposal and emergency preparedness
- Independently performs receiving, sorting, and decontamination of surgical/clinic items and instrumentation.
- Inspection and packaging of single instruments and instrument kits.
- Identification of appropriate sterilization method and cycle selection.
- Keen attentiveness to detail to monitor working conditions, inspect equipment and oversee the decontamination process
- Organizational skills to efficiently fulfill supply requests
- Familiarity with a wide range of surgical instruments, medical devices and equipment
- Dexterity to operate equipment used for decontamination and sterilization
- Experience using databases to look up infection control procedures as needed
- Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with members of the care team and keep accurate records.
Requirements:
- Years of Experience Required: 2yrs.
- Skill Sets Required: Independently performs receiving, sorting, and decontamination of surgical/clinic items and instrumentation; inspection and packaging of single instruments and instrument kits; identification of appropriate sterilization method and cycle selection, appropriate documentation for all sterile processes; and accurate inventory assignment relating to the case cart build process.
- EMR (Charting System): EPIC & SPM.
- Certifications Required: CRCST or CBSPD.
- Additional Information: Flexible endoscope reprocessing experience is a plus.
