Job Description

As a Supervisor - Purchasing and Inventory, your primary responsibility is to serve as the liaison with vendors using quality metrics and implementing inventory control protocols to optimize inventory and service levels ensuring the organization has competitive advantages throughout its supply chain. You will implement day-to-day operations for assigned team.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs analytical activities of functions including purchasing, planning and replenishment of inventory, control of materials, and receipt of forecasting replenishment needs to the delivery of products to customers.
  • Assists with developing of strategies, policies, procedures, and overall team to optimize value of entire function in creating world class supply chain management group.
  • Selects, manages, evaluates, and develops staff. Challenges employees, builds effective team, develops organizational capacity, and provides staff with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities.
  • Participates in establishing short and long term logistics objectives consistent with organizational strategy.
  • Conducts complex data analysis and evaluates intangible factors to answer business questions for management.
  • Administers workflow process systems.
  • Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to procurement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' Degree in Supply Chain or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 3 years required, 5 years preferred of prior responsibility in purchasing or supply chain management.
  • 1 year required, 3 years preferred of management supervision.
  • 3 years preferred of industrial distribution.
  • 3 years preferred of operations management.
  • Knowledge of industry including suppliers, customers and competitors preferred.
  • Ability to initiate and develop relationships with key decision makers both inside and outside the company to achieve objectives.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Able to oversee people and processes to achieve objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including coaching and conflict management.
  • Supply chain management, strategic sourcing, vendor management, inventory and warehouse methods and procedures.
  • Ability to travel with limited advance notice.
