CAD Drafter


Job Details

A growing medical device company based in North San Diego county is hiring a fulltime CAD Drafter/Designer to support the engineering team onsite. The company is developing breakthrough products for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and will be commercializing several new products by the end of this year and early next. The primary function of this position is to provide CAD drafting support to engineers in creating 3D models, detailed and assembly drawings of medical devices as well as electronics, fixtures and tooling drawings.

Responsibilities:
Generate 3D CAD models, detailed and assembly drawings of new and existing design concepts using SolidWorks.
Generate and /or modify complex 3D models using advanced modeling techniques.
Generate visualization images, renderings, animations from 3D CAD files.
Perform dimensioning and tolerance analysis/evaluations of component and assembly drawings.
Generate all required documentation such as: Parts lists, prototype assemblies, prototype build instructions, presentations (pictures and/or video) and patent drawings.
Ensures all appropriate document revisions are maintained.

Qualifications:
BSME or Associate degree or certification in Mechanical design/drafting required.
At least 3 years' experience in Drafter/Designer role in the medical device industry, catheter device product development preferred.
Proficient using SolidWorks 2016 or latest versions; Certified in SolidWorks with advanced SolidWorks certifications preferred.
Knowledge of Medical device Document Control preferred.
Knowledge and applying ASME Y-14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing standards.
Knowledge in variety of machining/manufacturing process and designing for manufacturability (i.e. plastic molding, extrusions, tube braiding, CNC machining, Laser machining, Laser welding).
Demonstrated capability using engineering measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
