FIGS is actively seeking a forward-thinking Director of Engineering specialized in e-commerce web initiatives. As we venture further into the realm of online retail and set our trajectory for global expansion, we're in search of a leader with profound expertise in web technologies and international e-commerce strategies to steer our engineering team to unparalleled success.
What you ll do:
- Catered Web Experience: Champion the design, development, and optimization of FIGS web platforms and applications, ensuring a seamless and superior user experience for our Health Care Professionals.
- Roadmap Execution: Strategically oversee and drive the end-to-end execution of the technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals, timely delivery, and optimization of resources while fostering cross-functional collaboration and communication.
- Lead the Charge for Marketing: Drive engineering solutions that cater specifically to our digital marketing efforts, ensuring technology and marketing are in perfect harmony.
- Architectural Decisions: Steer architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability, especially concerning mobile and international expansions.
- Mentorship & Team Leadership: Provide leadership, motivation, and direction for all of FIGS engineers, emphasizing mobile development and international platform nuances.
- Strategic Technological Vision: Ensure that technology serves FIGS strategic direction and growth objectives, particularly as it pertains to mobile, international, teams, and marketing facets.
- Operational Excellence: Work closely with our VP of Engineering on all engineering decisions, ranging from vendor choices to data security.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years in software development, with a focus on mobile technologies and e-commerce platforms.
- 3+ years leading engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with Shopify Headless.
- Strategic thinker armed with both a business acumen and an exceptional technical skillset.
- Solid experience in scaling an e-commerce platform across international borders.
Bonus points for:
- Experience working alongside Shopify, Spree, BigCommerce or other e-commerce platforms
- Experience working alongside fulfillment and warehouse management platforms
- Experience with Docker, Terraform, Shell and other standard tooling
- Experience setting up CI/CD build processes and pipelines
- Experience working with content management systems, especially Contentful
Other must haves:
- Desire to learn: We build solutions to problems. We are not looking for specific experience with our tech stack just the willingness and sufficient experience (with an equivalent stack) to pick it up fast.
- Excellent communication skills: We rely on direct communication between our engineers and product managers. An ability to read requirements, identify edge cases, and clearly document your engineering decisions will be crucial to your success and the team s as well.
- Collaboration: we work in small cross-functional teams and as individual engineers. We are not afraid of challenges and working together to tackle them.
- Positive attitude: we are self-starters who love to solve problems with technologies
FIGS Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range
- At FIGS, your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. This role's base salary range is between $154,000 and $220,000. Actual base salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
