Under general supervision, plans, organizes and promotes recreation, youth, adult, senior, and community services programs and events; supervises the work of part-time and contract staff; prepares related written and promotional materials and information; performs related duties as required.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
* Manages workflow;
* Creates and manages team schedules;
* Reports to HR and senior management;
* Hires, supervises and trains part-time employees to provide quality recreation programming in a safe atmosphere;
* Evaluates performance and provides feedback;
* Identifies and applies career advancement opportunities;
* Assists in resolving employee issues and disputes;
* Manages day-to-day operations of recreational facilities;
* Oversees marketing efforts to effectively promote programs and events within the community;
* Prepares and submits promotional material for assigned program areas for seasonal brochures, flyers and the website;
* Ensures adherence to departmental policies and guidelines while overseeing policy updates to improve program delivery, and conducts ongoing staff training for optimal service quality;
* Maintains accurate records and reports related to program attendance, budget utilization, and other relevant metrics;
* Collaborates with community stakeholders to foster inclusivity and engagement among residents;
* Prepares and maintains budgets for assigned program areas that are cost effective and meets established cost recovery goals;
* Continually evaluates recreation programs to insure the needs of the public and agency goals are obtained.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree preferred or an Associate's degree with a combination of a minimum of two (2) years of related work experience;
* Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
* Valid Driver's License.
* First Aid, CPR, and AED certified.
Supplemental Information
* Obtain CPRP certification within two (2) years.
* Continually develop as a professional, attend workshops and networking with other professionals annually.
* Knowledge of City policies and procedures;
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
* Skill in the operation and use of standard office software which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products;
* Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials;
* Highly organized and have the ability to prioritize projects and handle several projects at one time.
* Possesses both the ability to carry out instructions given by the Recreation Manager and think quickly and make decisive action on his/her own
* Exhibit good problem-problem skills and good judgment in keeping with the mission of the Recreation Department.
