Job Details
Seeking a creative, detail oriented individual to design mechanical solutions for our highly customized instrumentation hardware. Working with our staff of specialized engineering talent, this person will need to utilize industry and aerospace design standards, contribute new ideas and techniques and follow thru with designs from concept to detail drawing creation.
Duties:
- Create solid models of parts and assemblies from concept and make modifications to existing models, primarily in Solidworks.
- Troubleshoot and brainstorm complex set ups in the aerospace and gas turbine industry for R&D development projects
- Create assembly drawings and complete Bill of Material lists
- Make fully toleranced detail drawings per ASME Y14.5 that achieve fit and form requirements necessary for proper functionality of the part
- Will interface with Manufacturing Engineering to refine designs for manufacturability
- Prepare presentation material for and attend internal design reviews
- Will need to multitask working several projects simultaneously and assist with projects in process
- Will take directions primarily from internal project engineers and will interface with customers as necessary
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree preferred or 15 years experience in lieu of degree
- 10 years experience in design of mechanical systems
- Manufacturing experience
- Experience in creating drawings per drawing standard ASME Y14.5
- Knowledgeable of sensors for pressure, temperature and strain measurement
- Advanced capability using solid modeling software, Solidworks and NX preferred, others may be considered
- Ability to use ANSYS or Solidworks Simulation is very beneficial
- Basic understanding of FEA is needed
- Understanding of Gas Turbine Engines strongly recommended
