Our programs are staffed by experts who help over 325,000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence services, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 120 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.Position Summary: In 2021, Met Council opened the Boro Park Chesed Center, a welcoming environment for delivering a wide array of social services, emergency food assistance, and workforce development programs in one centralized location convenient to the Jewish communities in Brooklyn with high demand for these services. In early 2024, we will move from this pilot location to the Upward New York Brooklyn Hub, also in Boro Park, which will significantly increase our physical capacity to scale services.The temporary Administrative Assistant will support the logistical and programmatic needs of transitioning from the Chesed Center to the Hub. This includes supporting the recently launched Workforce Development programming at the Chesed Center. The work will be accomplished in collaboration with the Managing Director of Social Services, the Executive Director of the Chesed Center, and the Career Access Program Director, in addition to current program staff & participants, Brooklyn community members, and funders.
