Job Details

General Description: The Student Services Assistant assists with the implementation of various interventions for students who require additional assistance outside of the prescribed scope and curriculum for their grade level due to learning differences or difficulties.

Qualifications: The Student Services Assistant is one that has received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He/She shall faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Westminster Statement of Faith.

The Student Services Assistant shall possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, minimally.

The Student Services Assistant shall possess basic office management training and/or comparable on-the-job training, as well as computer literacy/technical skills

Responsible To: Director of Student Services

Supervises: N/A

Observable Actions: The Accommodation Aide shall exhibit integrity and discernment, striving for continuous improvement in the job requirements and exhibiting all related skills in the areas below. He/She performs a variety of duties. The person in this position must possess:

Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, use clear vision both up close and at a distance, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

Spiritual:

Model a daily walk with Jesus Christ in attitude, speech and actions.

Show by example the importance of Biblical knowledge and study, prayer, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship.

Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, administration, and staff.

Demonstrate brotherly love within the Body of Christ for students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities:

Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.

Communicates with teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing objectives.

Implements under the direction of classroom teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g. reading, math, language comprehension, writing, computer, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts

Maintains classroom equipment and work area for the purpose of ensuring availability of a safe learning environment

Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, assemblies, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

Promotes good study habits and student independence for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes.

Provides, under the direction of classroom teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of student deficiencies and ensuring student's success.

Models conversation, manners, clean up activities, listening, and everyday interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate behavior.

Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Professional:

Utilize educational opportunities for professional growth.

Seek and/or accept the counsel of the administrator and colleagues, while maintaining a teachable attitude.

Provide input and recommendations for preschool director and managerial functions in the school.

Attend and participate in scheduled orientations, devotions, conferences, special school functions, seminars, retreats, in-service, and scheduled meetings i.e. committee, faculty, and P.T.F.

Study and know the procedures for crisis management issues including, but not limited to, fire, tornado, and lockdown drills.

Contribute to the general improvement of the school program.

Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.

Perform any other duties, which may be assigned by the director.
