Performs responsible field clerical work in reading electric and/or water meters. Work is performed under regular supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ TYPICAL TASKS Reading electric and/or water meters on assigned route and recording usage;Keeps records of meters read and reports meters not accessible for reading;Checks to see that meters are correctly installed and functioning properly and reports defects to supervisor for further action;Makes special checks on high and low readings;Responds to customer complaints and inquiries;Staffs telephone and radio during emergencies;Performs related tasks as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
