BOOKKEEPER:

An employee in this class performs various clerical duties involving interacting with other employees and departments. Generally, an employee in this class is the primary support to an administrator or has considerable knowledge of a technical field. Work typically involves several steps and requires selecting the most appropriate action within procedural and operational guidelines. Work is directed by precedents or board policy. The employee may develop procedures for non-technical and non-complex problems and is expected to resolve problems independently.

  • Identifies sources needed and compiles a variety of data
  • Traces and reconciles disagreements records
  • Maintains a variety of complex ledgers
  • Determines soundness of request for materials or small amounts of money and rejects/approves.
  • Sets up and maintains files/storage of a large and varied number of subjects
  • Files and retrieves information from a filing system
  • Purges files by prescribed procedures
  • Operates large variety of standard office equipment
  • Originates design and layout of material, charts, and statistical materials
  • Locates, identifies, and delivers appropriate and accurate information
  • Performs other related work as required

Must have thorough knowledge of the operations and activities of the school/department which assigned, knowledge of office practices and procedures, knowledge of commonly used programs (Microsoft Word, Spreadsheet, etc), knowledge of principles of organization, ability to work independently, and ability to maintain confidential information.
