This position is responsible for providing crisis intervention, empowerment and advocacy to victims of domestic violence in shelter and on the crisis line. This position will provide shelter coverage and some clerical duties. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Provide direct service/advocacy/peer support to victims of domestic violence .. Answer crisis hotline and provide referrals and crisis intervention as needed .. Assist residents in discussing, planning and executing Shelter Managers case plan .. Keep Shelter Manager apprised of all issues, concerns, and behaviors that affect the residents case plan, as well as their safety and well being .. Assist in assuring fire and safety regulations are enforced .. Implement the rule of no physical discipline of children in shelter. This includes being supportive of mothers who are trying to learn non-physical discipline techniques .. Create and maintain an atmosphere of support and assistance for all residents and staff.
