Who We Are Looking For: Golisano Institute for Business and Entrepreneurship seeks a full-time faculty member who will be responsible for teaching and supporting courses in career development, which are a required component of the academic program. The ideal candidate has knowledge of both employer expectations, job market demands and industry trends, as well as a proven track record of classroom instruction based in applied and active learning strategies.


We seek faculty who actively embrace an open mindset towards thoughtfully integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other technology into their teaching, advising, and mentorship. The ideal candidate aims to enhance their own teaching effectiveness and significantly enrich our students' learning experiences and skills. Our faculty will have a strong and consistent commitment to student learning including multi- and interdisciplinary integration between courses, so students understand connections and increase their lateral thinking. Major Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the "Lead Faculty" for career development courses which are full-credit courses required as part of the two-year academic program.
  • Lead Faculty are primary instructor for a given course, responsible for conducting each class meeting session, assignment design and grading, and holding weekly Team meetings with co-Instructors supporting the class.
  • This includes completion of building out the detailed weekly lesson plans for Career Development I: Professional Goals & Interpersonal Communication.
  • While not serving in Lead Faculty role for CDI, collaborate with the career development instructional team on building out detailed weekly lesson plans for other career development courses, such as Career Development IV: Networking & Personal Brand Management.
  • Normal teaching load is 12 courses per 4 Quarters, and terms serving as Lead Faculty carry a load reduction to 3 courses and usually only 1-2 preps.
  • Our courses are integrated within, and between, Quarters, so these detailed course builds will include integrated assignments with other courses running concurrently.
  • Collaboration with our Director of Teaching and Learning and/or Learning Engineer for support in assuring assignment design is constructed with an assessment lens, and emphasizing and ensuring active learning in each class meeting session with Director of Educational Technology and/or Learning Engineer in their conversion of these plans into our Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas.
  • This is accomplished through relevant co-teach assignments and weekly Team sync meetings
  • Teaching / Advising / Community & Professional Development, as explained in the Detailed Faculty Role Overview.
  • This position reports into the AVP for Career and Personal Development as well as the Chief Academic Officer.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in one or more of the following: career services (career advising/coaching, employer relations), recruiting, talent management, human resources, leadership development, organizational, K-12.
  • Minimum 3 years direct teaching experience in secondary or post-secondary education setting
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, be sensitive to, and address the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and orientations, actively promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions.
  • Understanding industry trends, job market demands, and employer expectations is crucial.
  • Experience designing and facilitating applied and active learning experiences.
  • Experience teaching students with diverse learning needs.
  • Demonstrated success in practical and applied teaching with an emphasis on proficiency development and active-learning classroom experiences is vital.
  • Familiarity with the Learning Management System (LMS) Canvas is highly preferred; experience with other LMS' will be considered, with emphasis on utilizing LMS' as a learning support for students.
  • Familiarity with MS Office 365, and utilizing educational technology is required; this includes experience with leveraging presentation and interactive educational technology as a component of an active learning environment. Experience with T1V/ThinkHub educational collaborative software is a plus.
