This is a Salaried Exempt position in the Engineering Department of
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for soliciting competitive
bids for products and services, contract negotiations for materials, vendor
selection and conserving company resources where material costs are
concerned.
Position Qualifications:
Experience in purchasing, soliciting competitive bids, bid analysis and contract
negotiation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
Good communication skills and background in English grammar.
Proofreading and Accounts payable skills desired.
Ability to work well with others.
Knowledge of industrial equipment, supplies and services is desired.
Procurement Specialist Job Profile
Requires successful completion of training requirements as outlined by the
Engineering Department.
Responsibilities include the following:
Follows policies and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook and other
facility policy and procedure manuals.
Maintains a clean and well-organized workspace at all times.
Strives to develop good working relationships with all co-workers, customers,
and associates.
Ensures proper approval on requisitions.
Assists Accounts Payable when necessary.
Processes material and contractor procurement requisitions in SAP.
Expedites deliveries and advises requisitioner of delivery date changes.
Assists in return of incorrect / unnecessary goods.
Sets up new vendors in accordance with approved specifications.
Maintains existing and develops new vendor relationships in order to get more
efficient and cost effective service.
Assists the Strategic Procurement Department as needed.
Writes vendor contracts for Warehouse material.
Evaluates vendors as required by plant Quality System.
Reviews and updates purchasing procedures for hard goods and services.
Assists Warehouse with updating ordering information.
Working knowledge of the positions within the Engineering and Maintenance
Departments.
Assists in developing / updating plant purchasing policies and procedures.

Maintains consistent communication with corporate purchasing entities.
Assists in preparation of technical bid spec, obtains competitive proposals and
summarizes results (bid tabulation).
Maintains the company s competitive position in its industry and to conserve its
resources, insofar as material costs are concerned.
Procures materials at the lowest cost consistent with the quality and service
required.
Maintains continuity of supply the manufacturing schedule.
Maintains good relations with supplier personnel, which means courteous,
impartial and equitable dealings with suppliers. Any behavior that involves a
conflict of interest or the appearance thereof, or unethical business practices
are prohibited.
Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Performs all tasks in accordance with plant safety guidelines and procedures
with a heightened sense of awareness to maintain a safe work environment.
