POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller reports directly to the CFO. Ensures preparation of monthly detailed financial statements, annual audit schedules, cost and statistical reports and detailed cost reports schedules, responsible for the preparation, review and maintenance of departmental operating reports, general ledger, accounts payable, and property ledgers. In collaboration with CFO, negotiates payment terms with vendors and works with Materials Management Manager to ensure supplies are properly charged to patients and account coding is done accurately. Supervises payroll, accounts payable, and accounting functions.

REQUIREMENTS :

Education:

BS in Finance or Accounting

Experience:

  • Must have Acute Care Hospital Experience in California as a Controller or Assistant Controller, with at least five years of minimum experience.
  • District hospital experience and/or CAH experience preferred.
  • This is a hands-on position that will oversee day to day operations of the Accounting, P/R, A/P, and banking relationship.
  • Works closely with CFO.
  • Must be able to implement Month End closing procedures and prepare monthly Financial Statements.
  • Involved in the collection of the district's property taxes and CAM fees.
  • Supervises and performs duties related to accruals and journal entries.
  • Point person for all manner of audits, etc.
  • Must understand California Payroll Rules and lead compliance.
Required Skills:
  • Familiarity with AllScripts preferred.
  • Must have ability to learn new computer-based systems such as AllScripts, Premier, and UKG.
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in medical office software (e.g., EMR/EHR systems).
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding practices.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism .

PAY / BENEFITS :

Estimated pay: $155,000.00 to $185,000.00 annual base rate based on qualifications (including but not limited to experience, education, certifications, and licensure where applicable).
