Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Simpsonville, SC

1st Shift 8am-5pm; Monday - Friday with Rotating Weekends

Position Overview

Maintenance mechanic maintains, programs and repairs different types of machinery, mechanical equipment and building structures. Works daily in and around the plant. Responsible for repairing motors, piping, valves, heating and cooling systems, insulation, carpentry and electrical systems. Maintenance mechanics also troubleshoot equipment problems and perform emergency repairs. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, dayshift with rotating weekend call and occasional weekend PM's as needed to support manufacturing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review daily with manager the work schedule and objective of the day.
  • Inspect for safe operating of the equipment assigned to each task.
  • Note any mechanical deficiencies of assigned equipment and notify Manager immediately. (Complete maintenance request form for any needed repairs)
  • Wear assigned uniforms on the job, other safety clothing, and PPE that may be required for the task.
  • Assist Manager by maintaining inventory of required supplies and communicating needs on a daily basis.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned including those to assure safe, efficient operations of the plant.
  • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
  • Install automatic controls used to regulate manufacturing systems.
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Hot Work
  • Block and Bleed Procedures for hazardous chemicals piping and process systems.


Minimum Requirements
  • Experience with Air Diaphragm, Centrifugal, Positive Displacement pumps proper operation and maintenance.
  • Experience with Mix Tank Agitation Drives (Gear Box Assemblies)
  • Experience in reading and understanding blue prints and the ability to compile required parts needs from blue print.
  • Has knowledge of piping system operation and maintenance.
  • Can assist with the assembly and installation of a variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings including iron, steel, cooper, and plastic.
  • Experience with Air Compressors, Air Dryers, and associated high pressure piping, fittings, and valves.
  • Experience with the proper operation and maintenance of Gas and Electric Boilers, the piping, valves, and traps of the system.
  • Must have basic understanding of Industrial Electrical Systems 230/480, PLC Operation, and Electrical Drives to assist electrical technicians on the job site.
  • Experience with Cooling Tower Operation and maintenance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass physical examination for position. (Respirator Fit, Confined Space Entry Required)
  • Attention to detail and numerical aptitude in order to assure quality work product and accurate records.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities to resolve workplace process problems.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal to communicate with other employees.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to complete multiple tasks in a timely manner in order to assure requirements are met.


Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $27 - $31/hr.
