Position Description
Description: Perform transfers of ethanol and other products as directed in compliance with training provided in accordance with work instructions and government regulations (EPA, FRA and OSHA).
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Climb onto top and underneath railcars in order to inspect and seal railcars using a checklist
Inspect equipment using checklists
Operate Mobile equipment
Perform mechanical inspections using checklists
Perform Level 1 Maintenance on equipment
Prepare products for transferring
Conduct railcar switching operations
Perform all duties safely, effectively and efficiently
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Participate in daily Safety / Quality talks
Report all incidents and near misses
Understand and comply with Shipper Confidentiality when discussing Shipper Accounts
Perform all daily housekeeping duties to include bathrooms, windows, sweeping, mopping, trash pick-up, weed control, mowing grass, washing equipment / accessories, shoveling, drains, break rooms and shop areas
Comply with cross training as required
Ask questions concerning product integrity, product shortages or equipment quality
Knowledge of terminal equipment, regulatory requirements, terminal maintenance and computer operations.
Ability to understand and follow internal and external policies and procedures and recognize out of compliance conditions and implement corrective action.
Ability to monitor and maintain equipment in a manner that will allow for safe, efficient operations 24/7.
Ability to work in a team environment which will require a high level of motivation and initiative.
Effectively communicate with Managers, Peers and Contractors as necessary to perform the Terminal Operator role.
Participate and embrace all safety and quality programs
Position Requirements
Position Requirements: Experience and Specific Knowledge:
Must be able to communicate and comprehend clearly, verbally and in writing
Must be able to understand and comply with all requirements for any emergency
Must be able to understand and comply with the Verification Policy, when applicable
Must have experience using hand tools
Must train in Safety and Hazmat requirements at the facility.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Must pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed
Must be at least 18 years old.
Competencies, Skills and Abilities:
Must be willing to work overtime as needed
Willing to work non-traditional hours ; schedule to be based on train arrival
Must be willing to report to shift with minimal notice
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally
Must be able to accept supervision/direction and work effectively & cooperatively with other people
Basic math skills required.
Must have the ability to work in all types of conditions, including but not limited to working in the rail yard, working on railcars
Basic competency using Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Physical Demands/ Working Conditions:
Must be able to climb up and down rail cars to a height of up to 20 feet
Must meet physical requirements, including, but not limited to: consistently lifting / carrying and pulling / pushing weights / forces up to 60 pounds / routinely gripping forces of up to 80 pounds
Routine walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending and squatting, climbing up / down ladders and stairs, standing, sitting and negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Regularly exposed to outside in adverse weather conditions
Must be willing to work outdoors
Preferred Experience, Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Education in technical crafts or work experience in job duties described above- preferred
Hazmat and rail yard operation experience -
Shuttle wagon experience -
Knowledge of Liquid Transfer Operations

Compensation:
Pay range is $28.19 to $33.19 per hour. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
