Maintenance Mechanic


Job Details

The Maintenance Mechanic provides general maintenance support for assigned locations. This role has wide ranging responsibilities, including low/medium voltage power, HVAC system and controls support, mechanical system troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, emergency response, general maintenance, carpentry, painting, patching, plumbing repairs, support, moves, vendor management, and other miscellaneous repairs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate appropriately with all site management employees.
  • Service, clean, inspect and repair equipment periodically following established PMs.
  • Work safely and follow all established plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Safely operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, carts, lifts, boom lifts, etc.
  • Create notifications and follow up on needed repairs and order required parts.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Input data into Carriers TMS work order and asset management system.
  • Safely use basic hand and power tools such as a drill press, power saw, grinder, etc.
  • Safely use machining equipment such a band saw, drill press, lathe, etc.
  • Repair, Replace pipes, motors, pumps.
  • Variety of duties in storing, transporting, and disposing of Hazardous Waste materials.
  • Work on steam system throughout the site.
  • Perform machine repair and understand Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Power Transmission.
  • Work in a Storm Water Treatment Plant.
  • Perform welding using a variety of welding processes.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma technical school preferred.
  • Combination of 10 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience, College degree, technical school or formal apprenticeship program.
  • Combination of 5 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience, College degree, technical school or formal apprenticeship program.
  • 3 to 5 years Maintenance Mechanic experience in last 5 years.
  • Experience and knowledge as steamfitter, pipefitter and millwright welder.
  • Knowledge of industry best practice of safety procedures, including Arc Flash Protection, and Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Pass skilled trades interview.
  • Pass prescribed mechanical test.
  • Perform welding using a variety of welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
  • Be able to perform advanced math calculations.
  • Experience with operation and repair of cranes.
  • Experience in Moving and Rigging materials and equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of Process Control in Storm Water Treatment Plant Environment.
